How to Crochet Chair Socks, Free Pattern
I am excited and a little nervous to be writing this blog post. I have wanted to blog and share my patterns and newly learned knowledge for crocheting for the longest time now, but the idea was kind of overwhelming for me. Where do I start? What do I write about? Will people like it? Will it be useful if there is already information exactly like it on the world wide web?Ugh! So much overthinking!
No more overthinking for this gal.....okay I will probably still think about it way to much and for the first few posts I will probably write something and delete it 100 times, but at least I am doing it.
I will be posting about current projects, interesting information that I have gathered through various sources and products that I have tried and liked or not liked.
One of the many projects that I currently have on the go is......you guessed it. Chair Socks. A friend messaged me a picture of some chair socks that her cousin saw and liked and asked if I could make ones similar to them. Of course I said "yes" (probably because I have a hard time saying no) and also because I LOVE coming up with my own patterns just by looking at a picture someone sends me or from an idea or request that someone has.
Here's what I came up with based on the specifications of her request;

Materials
Worsted weight yarn - Medium 4
( I used Downtown Abbey, Birch White)Crochet Hook - I (5.5mm)
Scissors
Stitch Marker
Stitch Guide:
sc - Single Crochet
BLO - Back Loop Only
sl st - Slip Stitch
MR - Magic Ring
ch - Chain
PM - Place Marker
Finished chair sock measurements will be 5" circumference by 4" height.
PATTERN
Begin with a Magic Ring.
If you prefer you can also begin with ch 3 then sl st to beginning ch to create a starting circle.
This pattern is worked in continuous rounds using a Stitch Marker at the beginning of each round to help guide you.
Rnd 1: 6 sc into MR. (or into starting circle if you are using that method). (6 sts)
Rnd 2: sc into first sc of first round and PM, sc into same stitch.
2 sc into each stitch around. (12 sts)
Rnd 3: 1 sc in first stitch, PM, 2 sc in next stitch, * 1 sc, 2 sc * repeat from * to * (18 sts)
Rnd 4: sc in BLO all the way around, PM in first sc. ( 18 sts)
Rnd 5: sc in tops of stitches leaving a nice ridge from the previous row of back loops only (18 sts)
Rnd 6 - 15: sc all the way around continuously using stitch marker to marker the beginning of each round (18 sts)
*you can choose to do more or less rounds at this point depending on the desired height you would like to achieve.*
Rnd 16: sl st all the way around, st sl at the end of the round and pull yarn through, cut and weave in tail.
That's it! Now all you have to do is make enough for all of your chairs.
